CHAPTERS 704 - 706

CHAPTER 704

Luis George observed Edwin Carter secretly for a long time, but still failed to find any clues from his look. He cursed in his heart, "This is bad. Their chairman usually has such a poker face when he is dissatisfied with his subordinates' work."

Edwin didn't say anything, and Luis didn't know how dissatisfied he was. Luis was so anxious that he scratched his head. Even if he wanted to correct his mistake, he didn't know where to start.

He took a breath and said cautiously, "Chairman Carter..."

Before Luis could finish speaking, Edwin interrupted him and said, "Ask Hal Barnes, what's the arrangement for the guests?"

When Edwin spoke and did not comment on the wedding venue, Luis immediately understood that their chairman was also satisfied.

Since there was no problem with his work, Luis felt relieved. When he answered Edwin's question, he was more relaxed.

Luis said, "The people who have a good relationship with Shengtian in the political and commercial circles have been invited, and their accommodation have been arranged. The media is also ready."

As for the guests, Edwin had already requested for invitations to be sent out three months ago. The media who were attending were selected carefully as well.

After such a long time, Luis and Hal Barnes would not make a mistake. Edwin clearly knew that they would not make mistakes, but he still needed to be assured. That was because he wanted to give Jane a perfect wedding, and he could not afford to make any mistakes.

"Okay." Edwin nodded, "You can continue your work."

Hearing Edwin's words, Luis felt relieved. Luis responded with a simple "yes" and he scrambled away, fearing that Edwin made any other remarks.

After Luis left, Edwin still stood in the same place as he admired the church he built temporarily for Jane. Although it was built temporarily, it took a lot of time. He had asked someone to prepare before George Michael's accident, and now it had been more than half a year.

For more than half a year, it took Edwin a lot of effort, money, and resources. However, no matter how much money he spent, he thought it was all worth it for Jane's sake.

Looking at the church and the romantic and warm layout, Edwin did not step in to take a look. He was waiting for Jane.

On the day of the wedding, he would hold her hand, Together, they would walk in from one end of the red carpet to the other end. They would stand in front of the priest and swear to God that they would be together for the rest of their lives.

Not long after Edwin left, Jane woke up. She wanted to sleep again, but she couldn't fall asleep. She didn't know if it was because she was used to having Edwin by her side as she slept in the past few months, so when he left, it seemed that her soul had been taken away by him.

She was very sleepy, but she could not fall asleep. They had just arrived at the Aegean Sea. Before they sat down to rest for a while, Edwin was already busy.

"What on earth was he busy with?" Jane thought silently. Jane stared at the ceiling with her eyes wide open. All kinds of thoughts flashed through her mind.

"Is he going to work or has something personal to do?" Because of her injury, Edwin had entrusted most of his work to his subordinates in order to take care of her. He was only responsible for making some important decisions.

Jane tossed and turned, yet she couldn't fall asleep. On the contrary, Janell, who was lying next to her, fell asleep soundly. She occasionally pouted her small mouth while she slept.

She looked absolutely adorable. She couldn't help but pinch the tip of the little fellow's nose and whispered, "Baby, get up quickly, there's a strawberry for you."

"Oh..." Janell stretched out her little hand and patted off the "worms" at the tip of her nose, continuing to sleep.

Jane would like to tease the little girl even more if she couldn't wake her up. Jane pinched Janell's nose and she whispered again, "Baby Janell, if you don't get up, Brother Lucas will leave again."

When Janell suddenly heard the two words "Brother Lucas", she instantly sobered up and opened her big bright eyes. "Brother Lucas?"

Jane said it in a very soft voice as she just wanted to tease Janell. She did not expect that the little fellow would really wake up. It was really unbelievable that the little Fellow would react to "Brother Lucas " so strongly.

Janell rubbed her eyes and looked around, but there was no sign of Brother Lucas. Since she couldn't see Brother Lucas, the little fellow was so sad that her mouth puckered and she was going to cry.

"Baby, I'm sorry!" Jane's heart ached when she saw the sad look on Janell's face. She really did not expect that the little girl could hear her.

"Mom!" Janell threw herself into her mother's arms and rubbed her little head against her mother's chest.

"I miss Brother Lucas."

"Janell, you will meet your Brother Lucas in the future." Jane assured calmly.

This "Brother Lucas" would not be the real Brother Lucas, but another person who really loved Janell and was willing to protect her with his life.

"But now, I miss Brother Lucas." Janell whined sadly. She hadn't seen Brother Lucas for a long time.

Brother Lucas had not visited her for such a long time. Did Brother Lucas not remember her? Or perhaps Brother Lucas had already forgotten their agreement?

"Baby, I'm sorry!" Jane blamed herself like she had sinned. How could she use "Brother Lucas" as a way to wake Janell up?

"What's wrong with Janell?" Edwin came back and entered the room. He saw Janell nestled in Jane's arms.

Jane's face was full of shame, and Janell looked very sad. "Dad, I miss Brother Lucas!"  The little fellow saw her father and threw herself into his arms.

"Well, how's your ballet? How about performing a short dance for us?" Edwin deliberately ignored Janell's words and immediately changed the topic.

"Of course not!" The little fellow replied sadly. She was sad so how could she have the mood to dance for her parents?

Edwin touched her head and said softly, "If you don't want to dance, then so be it. Go to the next room and get your brother. Let's get a good meal together."

"Okay." Sure enough, the little fellow's attention was quickly diverted by her father, and she threw Brother Lucas aside.

"What happened just now?" As soon as Janell left, Edwin looked at Jane and asked gently.

"Sigh!" Jane heaved a long sigh, and a trace of sadness surged in her heart. She said, "If Lucas was not killed, and if he could stay with her all the time, how good would that be."

Jane was very satisfied with Lucas, hoping that when Janell grew up, she would meet a man as excellent as Lucas.

However, there were so many men in the world. It was too hard to find a man who could protect Janell like Lucas.

"He's gone. He's passed away. Stop thinking about him, and don't mention him in front of Janell in the future."

It was said that a daughter was her father's lover in his previous life. This saying described Edwin's situation perfectly.

He hid the fact that Lucas was not dead because he didn't want to see Janell rely too much on another man. This was also the first time that he didn't tell Jane the truth..

CHAPTER 705

"No matter what, he lost his life in order to protect Janell. He saved my daughter, and I am grateful to him. Why can't I think of him?" Jane asked gently.

She often thought of Lucas, not only because he sacrificed his life to protect Janell, but also because she thought that he would make a good frame of reference for Janell's future husband. He was tall, handsome, and he was very responsible. He must be very popular with the ladies.

"Jane!" Edwin Carter called for her as he lowered his head to bite her playfully. He said in a deep voice, "From now on, you are not allowed to think about other men except for me!"

"You are really a tyrant! Bossy!" Jane glanced at him and laughed.

When Edwin became domineering, he was really unreasonable. He didn't have any explanations. Maybe this was the real Edwin.

"I'm only bossy towards you!" Because he cared about her, he did not allow her to think about others. He hoped that he was always on her mind.

Jane responded with a smile. "You are always so bossy towards me. Is it because I am different from you? If so, I want to thank you for your kindness."

Seeing her smiling widely and her eyes were sparkling with joy, Edwin's mood also brightened up. "You are so sweet."

He held her into his arms and gently rubbed her head with his. "Jane.."

"What's wrong?" Recently, he always liked to call her name but he didn't say anything else after, which made her feel uneasy.

"Jane.." Edwin still did not say anything. He just called her name gently, as it was the most beautiful word in the world for him. He didn't want to say anything else.

"I'm here." Slowly, Jane seemed to understand what Edwin was doing.

She leaned quietly in his arms and listened to him calling her over and over again with a pleasant voice. His voice was deep and seductive. When he called her name, it made her feel as if he wanted to imprint her name deep in his heart.

He wanted to remember her deeply. Jane shared the same sentiments too. Edwin changed his usual way of doing things secretly and sent out invitations early to invite the elites from all walks of life to attend his wedding.

Because he wanted to use this wedding ceremony to announce to the world that he was married. His wife was Jane Ronan! The one and only.

They also had a child who was about to be five years old. Her name was Janell Carter, and she was also the daughter of Shengtian's global head.

The guests invited by Edwin were from a higher economical and social status. They were either big shots in the business world, in the military industry, and from political circles. Of course, many people were proud to be able to attend Edwin's wedding.

The people who were on his invitation list were influential people that Shengtian acknowledged. The attendees had a fair relationship with Shengtian.

On the day before the wedding ceremony, all the guests who had received the invitation arrived at the venue, and Edwin's parents greeted the guests promptly. Edwin did not tell Jane about the wedding.

At this time, all the guests had arrived, yet Edwin was still accompanying a clueless Jane. They took a walk by the sea.

"Mom, who is going to get married tomorrow? You and dad? Or should it be someone else?!" Angela asked rhetorically and angrily.

In order to welcome the guests, Angela had been standing at the hotel entrance for two hours now, and her legs were going stiff. It was not a big deal, because the bride and groom of the wedding were her brother and sister-in-law. She needed to help them.

However, the couple were taking a walk by the sea when everyone else was busy. They were displaying their affection in public.

As a single person who had just broken up, Angela felt pitiful enough. How was it fair for a recently single woman like her to watch their display of affection and help them greet the guests who came to their wedding?

Every guest who came to the wedding offered congratulatory remarks. She endured everything for two hours, and she felt that she had reached her limit of patience.

As she thought about how the lovebirds were enjoying their sweet time together, yet she still had to accompany her father and mother to serve the guests in the hotel, she was feeling a deep sense of unjust. The more she thought about it, the angrier Angela became.

Mother Carter replied her with a smile, "In the future, when you get married, ask your brother and sister-in-law to entertain guests for you, and you'll get to be the beautiful bride."

Angela snorted and said, "I don't want to get married."

Mother Carter responded patiently, "You don't want to marry Victor?"

"We have broken up." Angela said angrily.

When she saw Mother Carter's eyes showed signs of disbelief, she added, "Don't you believe me? I dumped him. By the way, I'm the one who doesn't want him anymore, not the other way."

"Angela, what's wrong with you two?"

A few days ago, Angela rushed back to Jiangbei from the United States. Mother Carter thought that she was just messing around.

When she returned to Victor, the two of them would naturally be fine. This time, when she saw Angela attend the wedding alone, she didn't think much about their relationship. Because of the special identity of Victor, it was no surprise that he couldn't attend the wedding.

"Mom, don't mention him in front of me again. I've cut ties with him. We're strangers now." Angela gritted her teeth.

All the weaknesses of Victor, such as his arrogance, violent temper, and ruthlessness, could be accepted by her unconditionally. However, she could not bear that Victor could potentially have some other ties with other women.

As she recalled the day she returned to Jiangbei, Angela's heart was still aching as if someone was stabbing her with a knife. She had always thought that if Victor dared to betray her, she would definitely destroy Victor and kill the other woman.

However, when she saw that scene that day, she was surprisingly calm. She could not believe how calm she was. She didn't do anything and chose to run away. She pretended that she didn't see anything, and pretended that nothing had happened. In that case, she could still stay with Victor as usual.

However, she overestimated herself. She thought that she could pretend that nothing had happened. But when Victor appeared in front of her, she could not help but think about what she saw that day and felt disgusted.

"You're back?" At that time, Victor spoke casually as he reached out to hold her. Just as his hand reached out, Angela stepped back unknowingly to avoid his touch..

CHAPTER 706

"Why are you avoiding me?" Victor failed to hold onto Angela. He frowned unhappily and reached out to grab her again.

"Victor, I don't like you anymore. Let's break up." Before his hand touched her, she spoke up confidently.

"Angela, it's enough to lose your temper once." Victor's face turned dark. It was rare to see his serious attitude. In the past, no matter where he was, people would always perceive him to be self-centered and ruthless.

"Who's losing temper here?" Angela sneered and said, "Victor, do you think you are the only man in the world? Do you really think that I can't live after you leave?"

"Angela, take back what you said just now. I can pretend that nothing has happened." Victor narrowed his eyes slightly and looked very fierce.

"What happened has happened. Can you pretend that it didn't happen?" Angela looked at him and chuckled. If she didn't take a flight home for more than ten hours and didn't see him with other women, she wouldn't know that he had done such disgusting things behind her.

She might even continue to be with him innocently. But she found out already, and the mere thought of it made her feel extremely disgusted. How could he pretend that nothing had happened?

"What's wrong with you?" Victor walked over to her and reached out to her again, ready to carry her.

"Don't touch me!" Angela shouted. Disgusting! Scum! Many words jumped to Angela's mind, but she couldn't control her temper, so she raised her voice.

"Angela, try me again!" Victor stared at Angela and tried to hold back his anger, but he couldn't resist exploding.

"I won't like you anymore. We're done here. If we bump into each other, let's pretend not to know each other." Angela said.

Angela didn't know that she could calmly break up with him, and she could even smile brightly. Although she smiled brightly, no one else would understand how painful her heart was, as if someone wanted to rip her heart off.

"Really? It's your words here." After saying this, Victor turned around and left. He didn't even ask why.

Angela looked at his tall figure as he walked further and further away. She clenched her fists very tightly. Her palm was bleeding, but she didn't feel pain.

"Angela? Angela?" Mother Carter didn't get Angela's attention after calling her a few times. She grabbed her and said, "If you are tired, you can rest for awhile. Your father and I will manage this."

"Oh, okay." She would not be of much help if she stayed here in her current state. It would be better for her to calm herself down.

This hotel was arranged to accommodate guests. Angela and Mother Carter did not live here. It would take more than ten minutes for them to walk to the hotel they lived in. If they took a cab, they could arrive in about five minutes.

Angela was troubled, she didn't want to talk to others, so she chose to walk back to the hotel alone. She tried hard to calm herself down. She reassured herself that she was tenacious and could not be beaten down.

She needed to make herself feel better. "Miss Carter, congratulations!" Angela lowered her head because she was too absorbed in her thoughts. If it weren't for the man's sudden voice, she might have fallen into his arms.

"I'm sorry!" Angela looked up and saw a familiar yet unknown face.

"You? You are? You are that..." The man looked familiar. She had seen him somewhere before, but she couldn't quite remember him.

"I've been thinking about you a lot, but you don't even remember me. It's very sad." The man shook his head and put on a very pitiful look.

Angela thought of a name. The name was on the tip of her tongue. She almost blurted it out, but she couldn't say it somehow.

"Yes, you remember me. So who am I?" The man got close to Angela and anticipated her answer.

"Aaron Paul? Are you Mr.Paul, from Country A?" Angela thought for a long time and finally said his name.

"Miss Carter, you can still remember me. Well, my efforts did not go to vain then. I've always missed you so much." Mr. Paul smiled proudly.

Angela asked, "Why are you here?"

Mr. Paul said, "I'm here to attend Chairman Carter and Mrs. Carter's wedding of the century.

"Did my brother invite you?" Angela did not believe that Mr. Paul would be invited.

"No." Mr. Paul answered honestly.

"You are not invited. You are not my brother or my sister-in law's friend. So, which wedding do you wish to attend?" Angela looked at him angrily, and then looked at the two men standing next to him.

"Mr. Paul, do you have any ulterior motives? If you have any bad intentions, I won't be merciful."

"I am not a friend of Chairman Carter or Mrs. Carter, but I am your friend, Miss Carter. This time I just came here to attend the wedding and meet some new people. If I really have any bad intentions, will I appear in front of you?" Mr. Paul responded casually.

He had no interest in this wedding at all. His master asked him to find a way to attend the wedding, so he was forced to come. Thinking of his master, Mr. Paul's eyes glanced at the teenage boy on his left..

The makeup artist was so good that no one could recognize his master's original appearance at all. His master could see the girl he wanted to see with this camouflage.

"That's true, but who knows if you want to take advantage of me?" Even though she was familiar with Mr. Paul, Angela didn't let her guard down.

Although the news of the wedding in Santorini by the Aegean Sea had not been spread out by the media, there were still a lot of guests who had received invitations, and some who wanted to hurt her brother had also sneaked in.

Mr. Paul put his hand on his chest and put on a sad look. "Miss Carter, we used to be friends who went through thick and thin. If you see me in a bad light, I will be very sad."

Angela glared at him and said, "Fine, I trust you. If you want to attend the wedding, you can follow me tomorrow."

"Little Aunt!" Janell's soft voice was heard. Robert Michael drove the children around in a buggy for sightseeing. After a tour, he bumped into Angela.

Hearing Janell's voice, the man standing on the left side of Mr. Paul looked at her. When his gaze landed on Janell, he could no longer shift his gaze away. However, Janell could not see him. She was focused on her Little Aunt..
