CHAPTERS 633 - 635

CHAPTER 633 THEY WERE FIGHTING AND MAKING A RUCKUS

"Sister-in-Law..."

Jane interrupted Angela and said firmly, "Angela, stop it. The flight is about to take off. We still have to go through the boarding procedures and the security checks."

She tried persuading Jane but to no avail. So Angela looked at Robert who had been quiet. "Robert, why don't you say a word? She is your sister. Please persuade her not to leave my brother, please?"

"Angela, just go." Robert said the same thing.

This was between Jane Ronan and Edwin Carter. If they had not figured it out themselves, it would be useless for others to persuade them.

He knew both their temper very well. It would be a waste of time to say anything now. So it would be better to just remain silent

Seeing how her persuasion had not changed anything, Angela Carter yelled at Victor James anxiously, "Victor, I order you to tie her up and send her back now. They're not allowed to leave."

She believed, as long as they were given more time, then they would not divorce once they had it all figured out.

She sincerely hoped that her brother and sister-in-law would be fine and that Janell could grow up in a happy family.

In the past three years when Jane was not around, she knew very well how painful it was for Edwin.

She found out many times that her brother would sit alone in the house. He would leave the lights off and remained silent. And then he would just stay there the entire night, as if he had been abandoned by the whole world.

"Little Aunt, I will still be coming back." The moment Angela arrived, Janell had been watching her.

After listening to their conversation, she finally figured it out. It seemed that her Little Aunt was reluctant for them to go to the States.

"Janell…"  When Angela heard Janell's voice, she burst into tears. "You silly girl!"

At such a young age, she certainly didn't know anything. She didn't know that her mother was taking her away and might never return.

She didn't understand what divorce meant to a couple. If she knew, she would be devastated too.

"I'm not silly!" Janell said and pursed her lips. Hmph... She decided to ignore her Little Aunt.

Victor handed over Janell to Jane and bid them farewell.

He picked Angela up at once and left,

"Angela, have you got nothing better to do?"

"Damn you, Victor, put me down."

Angela kicked him, hit him and scolded him madly, "What do you want to do, you asshole?

Victor said, "I don't want you to cause any trouble here!"

Angela was already so anxious that her blood pressure had shot up. Now that she was being carried by Victor on his shoulders, she could really feel her blood boiling.

She was so angry she bit Victor on his back. However, this guy' s muscles were too hard. Not only was she not able to bite him, her teeth ached from the biting.

She punched Victor's back over and over again. She shouted as she punched "Someone is kidnapping me. Help! Help!"

Angela was hot-tempered, so it was quite crazy when she got furious.

Victor couldn't even hold her properly any longer. He finally slapped Angela on her butt. "Shut up!"

"Damn you, Victor, you beat me again. Just you wait. I will remember to take my revenge for what happened today."

By now, Angela could no longer hold her anger in anymore. Yet, before she knew it, she was being spanked again.

The bastard, didn't know how to be gentle to women at all. He hit her really hard.

Angela started tearing from the pain. The anger inside her instantly turned into endless grievances.

She bit her lips and sobbed silently. She felt that she had lost her dignity. After all, she was a celebrity.

There were so many people at the airport, and everyone's eyes were on her. How could she appear in the public from then on?

"Guys, look! Isn't that the famous movie star, Polaris?"

"Yes yes, that's her."

"How did she end up being carried by a man?"

"Isn't that Captain James of the Jiangbei Military Region?"

"Yes, that's really Captain James. I just saw him on TV a few days ago."

"No wonder she can do as she pleases in the entertainment industry. She is backed by an influential person as it turns out. If I were her, I could do whatever I want too."

All kinds of comments were thrown at them. The very thing that Angela had worried about finally happened.

She felt so mistreated that she pinched Victor real hard. It's all his fault! If she couldn't survive in the entertainment industry from then on, she would make sure he paid for that.

Victor suddenly stopped and turned around.

His sharp eyes looked at those passers-by who were gossiping, and said, "You guys are right. She is the famous movie star, Polaris. And I am Victor James of the Jiangbei Military Region. She is my future wife, and I am the person backing her. If you guys have the ability, then go and find someone like me for yourself. If you don't, then stop your stupid gossips now."

After he left those words casually, Victor acted like nothing had happened. He carried Angela and continued to walk out of the airport.

This time, Angela did not make a fuss anymore. Instead, she gently placed her face on Victor's back, like a kitten.

She had never thought that Victor would so proudly announce that she was his future wife in front of so many people.

Future wife. This meant that he was actually planning to marry her. She had been courting him ever since she could remember. She had always been the one to take the initiative.

This was the first time and also the only time that he had admitted their relationship.

There was no such thing as uncle and niece. It was a pure relationship between a man and a woman.

That simple happiness came so suddenly, it caught Angela off guard but she was not really surprised at the same time. In short, Angela felt like she was in cloud nine.

From then on, in the entertainment industry, she could proudly say to everyone that she had a backer.

The captain of Jiangbei Military Region, Victor James, was her greatest backer.

She felt so exhilarating with that thought, all her anger disappeared that instant. She even forgot why she was there at the airport earlier.

"Will you regret it, Victor?" Would he regret that he had stated their relationship so publicly and that he had defended her in front of them.

"You deserved to be spanked!" She was finally behaving after being spanked. Of course he wouldn't regret hitting her.

If he didn't spanked her twice, this girl would probably still be screaming. That's why he had always said that she was asking for troubles.

"Victor, you are really a bastard!" The warmth and touching feeling from earlier dissipated immediately as soon as Victor said so.

Victor retorted, "Angela, I'm warning you. Don't go crazy again."

"Bastard! You stupid idiot!" Angela pinched him real hard again to cool down her anger.

CHAPTER 634 SEA PARADISE

Jane Ronan watched Angela Carter and Victor James walk away before she could look away.

Perhaps Angela couldn't tell that, when Victor looked at her, his eyes were full of tenderness.

Once upon a time, there was a person who often used that kind of look to look at her and smiled at her before. He would once lovingly address her as his wife.

But... it wouldn't happen again in the future.

Jane could not help but to touch her chest. Her heart was aching. But no matter how painful it was, she had chosen this road.

She needed to walk on.

Jane took a deep breath and put on a smile that concealed her true feelings. "Brother, Andrew, Janell, let's go."

Let's set off and start a new life. Even if she clearly knew that it was impossible to forget that person she left behind, she could not stay any longer. She had to move forward.

The plane headed for New York took off on time from Jiangbei. Not far from the airport runway, there was a silver-gray Bentley parked, and a man in a white shirt was sitting in the car.

He was holding a cigarette in his hand. The cigarette was burning slowly. The heat gradually emanated towards his fingertips, but he did not feel any pain.

He sat still and looked into the distance. He watched as the plane took off a while later. He continued to watch as it flew higher and farther away.

His heart seemed to be leaving with them too, so he could not feel the pain of the cigarette burning his fingers.

The plane had already flown away and disappeared in front of his eyes, but he still did not look away. It was like someone was smiling at him in the air.

Maybe it was his wife and children, the lovers that he would never lose in his life. Janell's soft voice rang in his ears. Her voice was so warm that it would melt anyone's heart.

Before leaving home this morning, he took Janell's hand and told her, "Mommy wants to go live in the United States with your brother and sister. You'll follow her, okay?"

"Daddy, don't you want to go?" Janell blinked her big watery eyes and looked at him expectantly. He could see that Janell hoped that he could go to America with them.

"I still have some work to do, so I won't go with you today. When I'm finished with work, I will go over to find you. So you can follow your Mommy first, and don't make her sad, okay?" That was what Edwin said to the little girl.

Janell nodded sensibly and said, "Dad, I will be obedient and accompany Mommy, my brother, and sister Mia. I won't make mom sad! We will wait for you."

"Good girl" At that time, he held her baby tightly and kissed her pinkish face several times.

Janell also kissed his father back and left sloppy marks on his face. Her lips were soft and warm when she kissed him.

Half a day had passed, and he could still feel the warmth of the little girl on his face.

Edwin touched his cheek. That was where Janell had kissed him this morning.

The reason why he loved Janell so much was because Jane birthed this perfect child for him despite the many hardships.

Janell accompanied him on countless days and nights when he felt that he could not hang on anymore.

How could he not dote on her and love her?

"Chairman Carter!" Luis George disrupted his thoughts.

Luis stood outside the car while waiting for Edwin. It was time for him to move his chairman along.

If he went on like this, it would be dark soon, so how could he proceed with his revenge then?

"Let's go back." Edwin said.

Edwin looked away from the sky, closed his eyes, and leaned against the seat. His mind was completely blank.

In the past, he had heard people say that there are no winners in a war. It was the same as their divorce. How could he not be sad?

He was just a human being at the end of the day, and he would feel pain and bleed too... He agreed to finalize the divorce so quickly because he always remembered his promise to her.

He would not force her to do anything, so if she wanted to leave, he would agree. However, when she left, his heart was empty.

"Chairman Carter, about the video Ed Yates asked someone to send to your wife, we have confirmed that the person wearing the mask is Old George Michael."

While driving, Luis was still reporting to Edwin diligently. Without waiting for Edwin's reply, Luis raised his head slightly and looked at him briefly from the rearview mirror.

Edwin closed his eyes. No one knew if he was paying attention.

If he remained distracted, it would be difficult to work effectively in the future. It seemed like a part of him went away with his wife.

After thinking for a while, Luis added, "But we haven't found any clues related to him yet about the murder. So there's a chance that he's probably not the murderer.

"I don't care if he's the murderer or not, we won't spare him at all!" Edwin suddenly opened his eyes.

The coldness in his eyes made Luis shiver. Compared with the murder case, what was unforgivable was that Ed Yates dared to mess with Jane and forced Jane to leave him.

He needed to let this person feel his pain. The pain of parting with his wife and daughter could not be in vain.

After giving orders to Luis, Edwin  Carter closed his eyes again and said, "Let's go to Sea Paradise."

Edwin remembered that it was the first time he invited Jane out for dinner. After the meal, she hinted that she would like to take a walk with him.

He remembered what happened that night. She showed him the sea beyond the mangrove forest. She said enthusiastically that she wanted to build a private ocean park there.

Whenever she was in a bad mood, she would take a walk there on her own. She wanted to enjoy the sea breeze, listen to the sound of the waves, and look at the birds fly in the private ocean park.

As she spoke, her expression changed. She told him that the place was probably a nature reserve.

Even if she had money, without the government's approval, she wouldn't be able to build a park there. She only said this once, but he still remembered it firmly.

Later, he asked his men to draft the proposals for the development of the ocean park and got the government's approval at a great cost.

According to what she once described, he personally sketched a design that would fulfil her dream of enjoying the sea.

Yesterday was the completion date for the ocean park. The facilities and decorations were already set in place and could fully begin operating. He could take her and their children there anytime to fulfil her dream.

However, just as he was about to tell her this piece of good news, she spoke about the divorce.

Divorce!

Edwin could no longer remember how he felt when he heard Jane say that word.

Perhaps he froze and went completely numb, so he just put up his usual smile and looked at her calmly, at the heart wrenching moment.

CHAPTER 635 RANDOM WITNESS

Jane Ronan would never know what kind of storm she had stirred in his heart when he heard the word "divorce".

He wouldn't let her know either.

Maybe in Jane's eyes, he was just a cold and ruthless person. Nothing could defeat him.

Indeed, in work and in his business, he stood extremely tall and strong. Nothing could defeat him. But in front of Jane, he was just an ordinary man.

Like everyone else, he was still a human being at the end of the day. He would feel pain and sorrow. At the same time, he loved a woman deeply. He would love to take her under his wing and love her for the rest of his life.

"Haha--" Edwin let out a subtle and cold laugh. Then, he hid all his emotions under his expressionless face.

At the security room at the Jiangbei Airport. There was a big "spy war" going on.

Victor James, the captain of the Jiangbei Military, was present, along with Angela Carter and some others.

There were at least 15 people in the room. Victor stood tall in his military uniform. He scanned through the room.

"How dare you kidnap people at the airport. That's so stupid! Is your mastermind insane?"

"Captain James, we aren't weak." A man replied to him.

Their opponents were too strong. Thus, they were captured before they even had the chance to attack.

"Who sent you here?" Victor didn't have the mood to discuss their abilities.

The leader of the pack replied, "No one sent us here. We came here by ourselves.."

Slap!

Before the man could finish his words, he was slapped heavily by Victor, "Don't think I'm as dumb as you are."

What a fool. How did he expect Victor to believe his answer. Victor had a hot temper, and he didn't follow the rules.

He never showed mercy to anyone who was dishonest. If he just gave the person a slap instead of tearing him into pieces, he was already doing the person a favour.

Moreover, Angela was advising him by his side, "Victor, calm down. Don't hit them without any reason. These bastards have mouths, but they can't talk right. So we could just cut their tongues."

It was obvious that she was fanning the flames. Victor pulled the playful Angela behind him, and continued speaking to the rest of them in the room, "Be honest, or you'll suffer a merciless death."

Angela peeped from Victor's back and echoed, "You're so brave for choosing to mess with my sister-in-law. I'm telling you, you'd better tell me everything you know. Otherwise, when my brother comes, you'll have no choice but to suffer."

Not long ago, she was carried out of the airport by Victor, but Victor brought her back to the airport through the staff entrance.

They weren't the only two that were arranged to enter the airport, but there was also a team of people working under Victor's command.

When Angela wondered what they were going to do, Victor's men had already identified a few gangsters who disguised themselves as travelers.

They wanted to kidnap Jane.

Knowing that these people wanted to kidnap her beloved sister-in-law, Angela was so angry that she just kicked them impulsively.

Recently, Angela had spent more time with Victor. Angela had truly understood what Victor meant by "actions speak louder than words".

Several men looked at each other and exchanged glances. There was worry in their eyes, but they still did not say anything.

These people's lips were sealed, they didn't want to reveal their mastermind. Angela was so anxious that she wanted to beat them up again. She shouted again, "Victor, they won't say it, right? Give them to me, I'll kill them."

"There's no need to make a fuss over them." Victor sneered and beckoned his soldiers to come over.

"If they don't say anything, just take them back to the military region. I don't mind the methods you use to drag them there."

Victor raised his wrist to look at the time and said, "Before eight o'clock in the evening, we must know the truth."

Before catching these people, Edwin had already informed Victor about these people who would try to kidnap Jane.

In fact, they all knew who was the mastermind. However, they wanted to force these people to betray their mastermind by exposing him, to let the mastermind realize the pain of betrayal.

"Victor, are you sure that those people will expose the mastermind?" Those people were then arrested and deported to the military region in Jiangbei, but Angela was still worried.

"As long as they enter my territory, I have the ability to make them speak, Victor said very confidently.

"Are you sure?" Angela glared at him. "Victor, how did I just realize that you are also good at bragging?"

Victor put his hand on Angela's shoulder and said, "Angela, you don't know a lot of things. You can learn more from me in future."

Angela hugged his waist and responded, "Then please teach me. But before that, please tell me what's going on between my brother and my sister-in-law?"

Neil replied, "Don't worry, they are fine. If something really happened between them, will your brother arrange for your sister-in-law to go to America?"

"They are fine? They're divorced!"

Hearing Victor's casual response made Angela anxious again. "Please elaborate."

Victor put his arms around her waist. "Divorced? Do you really think they are divorced?"

Angela said in a hurry, "They've got the divorce certificate. It must be true."

Victor poked her head. "I don't think you're smart. You're as stupid as a pig whenever matters get tense."

"Victor, talk nicely, don't scold me..." As she said this, Angela suddenly realized something, "Victor, do you mean that they're not divorced? But it's impossible.."

Victor laughed and said, "If you really wanted a divorce certificate, your brother can ask someone to arrange it for you too."

Angela was surprised, "Did my brother prepare a fake divorce certificate?"

Victor explained further, "Today is a public holiday. Your brother borrowed the place and arranged for a person to produce the fake divorce certificate.

Even the seal is fake."

"It's great that they're not actually divorced then!" Angela was so excited that she jumped up and put her arms around Victor's neck.

She kissed him on the face, "I didn't expect my brother to be so cunning."

Victor sneered and said, "You didn't expect your brother to be so cunning? Even a fox is not as cunning as your brother. He doesn't talk much, and it's not because he doesn't know anything, but that he's just planning tricks in his mind.".

CHAPTERS 630 - 632

CHAPTER 630 ESCORTED TO THE AIRPORT

The destination on the flight ticket was New York, United States. It would take about 16 hours to fly from Jiangbei to New York.

A few days ago, Jane and Laura had a phone conversation and were discussing about her visit to the States.

But now, without having to go through the hassle of applying for visas and purchasing tickets, everything was prepared for her.

This unintentional move from Edwin had indeed saved her a lot of trouble.

Robert was driving. He looked at Jane from the rearview mirror and asked worriedly, "Jane, are you okay?"

Jane looked fine, as if the divorce between her and Edwin hadn't impacted her. But the more she reacted this way, the more concerned everyone was.

"What can really happen to me?" Jane smiled and replied, "Brother, if you don't want to go to New York, you can just send us to the airport."

"You're pregnant, and you have two children with you and a dog. Do you think I can let you go to the States alone?" Robert glared at her from the rearview mirror, he didn't care whether she could see him or not.

Jabe held her children, one in each arm and said with a smile, "Andrew and Janell are both big kids now. They won't be much of a worry for me."

Andrew was a sensible child. Although he was young, he had always been very considerate and would take good care of his sister.

"Mommy, I will take good care of you and sister in the future." Andrew patted his chest, like a little man. He didn't know where they were going. He would go wherever his father arranged him to go, as long as he had his parents together.

"Well, then from now on, mommy and sister will depend on you." Jane rubbed Andrew's head. She was already thinking about how to find Andrew a school and what kind of school he should attend in the States.

Andrew was not born into a privileged family. He had suffered a lot growing up.

Even at eleven years old, he still had no formal education. Unlike his family, Janell had family from all around the world, even her servants were from the United States.

As a four year-old girl, she could communicate with different people comfortably.

After arriving in the United States, Jane wouldn't need to worry about Janell adapting to a new environment.

"I want to take care of mommy too!" Janell looked at Andrew and said in her stubborn tone. She surely didn't want Andrew to steal her limelight.

"Very well, with the two of you taking care of me, I can just relax and enjoy myself from now on then." Jane pursed her lips and smiled.

It was excruciating to lose someone, it was a pain that was completely unimaginable.

But at the same time, she had also gained a lot, she still had Janell and Andrew by her side.

The road ahead might not be easy, but it did not matter. As long as she had her children by her side, she could still have a wonderful life ahead.

Could it really be wonderful though?

She laughed in a self-deprecating way.

The divorce was filed pretty quickly, and it ended her relationship with Edwin just like that, an absolute clear cut.

However, the imprint he had left with her would never go away. Edwin really meant something to her.

Jane focused all her attention on the kids, she didn't even notice that there was a car following them all the while.

They entered the airport highway, and the car was still following closely behind them.

Not long after both of the cars entered the highway, a few military off-road vehicles caught up with them. They quickly surrounded the car that was tailing Jane's.

Soon after the military off-road vehicles entered the highway, the entrance to the highway was blocked, preventing any cars from entering.

Until Jane's car was far enough, the military vehicles stopped the car that was following Jane's car.

"Captain James, the targeted car has been blocked. Please give your order!"

One of the members in the car asked their leader for instructions.

"They're trying to cause trouble isn't it? Then we shall serve them well. Let them know who they shouldn't mess with." Victor James issued the order through his walkie-talkie.

After giving instructions, he threw the walkie-talkie away and casually leaned on the carseat "Jerry, keep up with Mrs. Carter's car."

"Yes." As he received his captain's order, the driver started the engine and sped away.

Victor then looked at Edwin, who had been sitting quietly beside him, and said in anger, "Edwin, what tricks are you playing? You asked me to arrange my special forces here just to help you escort your wife to the airport?"

He was very busy in the military base today. Edwin had called him and asked him to arrange his team of special forces.

It was definitely a big deal if he wanted to use his special forces. He left his work and rushed over with his men.

But as it turned out, he was just helping Edwin to escort his wife and the children to the airport.

Victor was furious he could tear Edwin to pieces that instant. Did he think that the Jiangbei Military was operating solely for the Carter family?

How could he use his most elite men to handle such a trivial matter?

Victor's voice was so loud that it shook the whole car. However, Edwin remained calm and sat quietly, staring at the car in front of him with his deep eyes.

"I just want you to escort them to the airport. What's wrong with that?" The person that Edwin cared most about was in the car.

It was totally worthwhile to use the greatest power in the world just to protect them, even if he didn't necessarily need them at all.

"Of course I have a problem with it!" Victor roared.

What a man! if it wasn't for the sake that Edwin was his nephew, he would have destroyed him that instant. However, if Edwin wasn't his nephew, he wouldn't have asked Victor for help either.

Victor was just angry because it was totally a waste of resources.

"I didn't ask for your opinion. So shut up!" Since Victor yelled at him, Edwin replied to him cynically.

"What? You want me to shut up?" Victor was surely about to beat him up.

"Well then I should also send Angela back to the States." With that, Victor finally shut up.

Victor glared at him fiercely. How dare he threaten him? Such a bold man he was. Victor had never been threatened by anyone else in his life apart from his eldest nephew.

Victor picked up the walkie-talkie that he had thrown aside earlier and ordered, "Bring the man we captured earlier and give him a good beat up."

He couldn't bully Edwin, but he could bully someone else.

"Edwin, c'mon, tell me, the two of you divorced and now she's leaving. What are you guys up to?"

He thought this was quite exciting, Victor was sure that his sister and brother in-law didn't know about it.

Edwin remained silent. Victor slapped Edwin's shoulder and said with excitement, "Well, logically, a sudden marriage and a sudden divorce should've been something that I would do. Yet, before I had the chance to do so, you have already done all of them."

In most people's opinions, Victor was the rebellious type. He had never given a damn about rules and would do as he pleased.

CHAPTER 631 SHE NEVER REMEMBERED

An impulsive marriage without discussing it with the family, and getting divorced without informing any family members.

These would totally be the things people like Victor James would do.

It never occurred to anyone that Edwin Carter, a powerful figure in the business world and someone who had always abided by the rules, would do such a crazy and unbelievable thing.

Although Victor felt that his men had been underused, he wasn't that angry actually. Instead, he was very curious about what happened between Edwin and his wife.

Edwin replied indifferently, "As you can see, we are divorced."

Jane wanted the divorce so he fulfilled what she wished for. If she said that she wanted to go look for the happiness she desired, then he would let her search for it.

As long as it was what she wanted, he would fulfill her wish no matter what. So what else could she ask from a husband like this?

"You are angry!" In his memory, Edwin was hardly angry. To put it precisely, whenever Edwin was angry, he would control his emotions very well and never let others realize it.

"Edwin, you are actually angry!" Victor felt like he had discovered something rare, and the fact that his men were underused for an event like this was actually quite worth it to be able to see his nephew angry.

Edwin turned around and glared at him, giving him a serious warning

Victor was getting excited, when the mobile phone rang at the most inappropriate timing.

As soon as he heard the ringtone, he knew that it was from Angela. As soon as he heard Angela's voice, Victor's manly expression suddenly turned gentle.

He answered, "What is it?"

"Neil, I received the news that my brother just had a divorce. I couldn't get through to his phone. Please go and check for me what's going on," Angela said in an anxious tone.

"It's really a divorce. You don't have to check further." The man himself was sitting right next to him. He had accompanied him to send the other party involved in the divorce to the airport.

He had been part of the whole process, so he didn't need to confirm it with anyone else.

"What the hell, Victor?" Angela was angry and yelled, "Why are you so unwilling to do something for me?"

If she hadn't been too busy filming, she would have gone to Orchard Villa to confirm the news herself.

Why in the world would she ask him to do this for her?

"Angela, are you tired of living now?" This girl had become more and more arrogant and unreasonable. It was time to teach her a lesson.

"Damn Victor. You're the one who's tired of living now!" Click! Angela hung up the phone.

That little woman who used to pester him all day hung up on him today. Neil was furious he was totally going to smash his phone that instant.

But he quickly realized that someone was next to him. His nephew really had the ability to keep everything to himself.

He hadn't spoken a word the entire day. If he continued to hold it in, it wouldn't be a good thing.

"Edwin I know that you have your own considerations, but you better call your family and inform them. Your parents and sister are still your family. Even if you don't care about their feelings, they will still be worried about you."

"Also, you're not the only one in the world. You're not the only one in the Carter family either. Don't push yourself so hard, there are things you should let go off."

"I don't know why you two got divorced, but I know you don't feel good about this, and I believe Jane feels the same."

It was rare for Victor to give advice to someone. However, Edwin was still sitting upright and staring ahead.

No one could tell if he was actually listening to Victor's words.

Victor patted him on the shoulder and said, "Edwin, people who're directly involved usually wouldn't be clear-minded. I know this is both of your problems but if you can share it with me, I might be able to offer some help too."

Although he had little experience in relationships plus he still hadn't gotten married at this age, but he.. he really didn't know how to deal with couple problems.

So as he spoke, Victor decided to just keep his mouth shut. It was better to let them solve their own relationship problems.

All of them, including Angela and her parents, would want to help him, but they couldn't do much either.

Over the years, Edwin had been in charge of everything for Shengtian and the Carter family. Be it his family or the company, he had taken care of all perfectly.

While he was talking, Angela called again. She yelled, "Victor, are you with my brother right now?"

Victor nodded, "Yes."

Angela then instructed, "Let my brother answer the phone."

Victor said, "My girl, mind your own business. Don't make things difficult for yourself."

Angela said again, "1 asked you to give your phone to my brother."

Victor looked at Edwin and asked, "Angela is calling, do you want to answer it?"

Edwin remained silent, like a lifeless sculpture.

Victor shrugged and said, "Did you hear that? He doesn't want to talk to you at all. If you have some advice to give, you can call your sister-in-law and speak to her."

Angela roared, "If I could get in touch with my sister-in-law, will I still call you?

Victor, are you dumb, huh?"

Victor's eyes twitched from fuming. He hung up the phone this time. "Damn, this woman needs to be taught a lesson!"

After that chaotic argument between Victor and Angela, Edwin suddenly realized that perhaps it wasn't that bad for couples to quarrel after all.

It would have been better than keeping things to themselves and not communicating.

No matter what happened, they just had to say it out loud and then they could face the challenges together.

At the same time, Robert's car had passed the highway toll station. After exiting the highway, the car that Edwin and Victor were in also followed closely behind.

They would arrive at the Jiangbei Airport after the overpass.

Since the establishment of the airport, there had been an endless amount of passengers arriving and departing every day.

Edwin had also been to this airport countless times.

Every time, he would be rushing to the airport, hoping the flight could take off as soon as possible, so he could reach his next destination sooner.

But today, he was actually hoping for the weather to change all of a sudden, or that Jane's flight could not take off on time, so that he could stay with her for a little longer.

In fact, he was still waiting childishly, in the hope that Jane would run to him and tell him about the threat from someone.

Even Edwin thought he himself was hilarious. Since when did he become so naive and childish.

If Jane had considered telling him that Ed Yates had threatened her, then she wouldn't have asked for the divorce so easily.

After so many years, she still couldn't remember what he had said to her. That no matter what happened, she should not break up easily.

No matter what happened, she should not be afraid. He would always be there for her! He had told her more than once, but she had never remembered..

CHAPTER 632 SHE COULDN'T  GET RID OF HIM JUST LIKE THAT

"Edwin, we're here. Why don't you get off and have a look?"

The car had been parked for a while now, but Edwin Carter still did not react so Victor James decided to prompt him.

Edwin looked up. Jane was holding Janell in one hand and Andrew in the other.

She was smiling gently. She had just gone through a divorce, but there was no sadness on her face.

Edwin knew very well that it wasn't because she didn't feel sad, but she was just too used to hiding her true emotions.

This damn woman! He had the urge to rush over to carry her home to teach her a lesson. He would pour cold water on her so that she could finally come to her senses.

There was nothing that she had to hide from him. Why would she use divorce to solve the problem? Did she think she could get rid of him just like that? She could never escape from him, be it this lifetime or the next.

"Edwin..." Edwin ignored him. He took out his phone and dialed a number, and asked coldly, "Is everything in order?"

No one knew what the person in the phone said. Edwin hung up the phone without saying anything.

He turned to Victor and said to him, "Please make sure they board the flight safely. Your driver will send me back to Shengtian."

"Me?" Victor pointed to his nose. How could the captain of the Jiangbei Military become an escort?

From the look, Edwin surely did not leave him a chance to refuse.

Fine, forget it, he was still Edwin's uncle after all.

After getting off the car and slammed the door, Victor straightened up his military uniform and went after Jane and the rest.

At the same time, Edwin ordered the chauffeur to drive away.

Jane wanted to leave, so he let her go. Once she got tired, she would realize exactly where her real harbor was.

"Uncle!" Victor was about to say hello to them, but Janell noticed him first.

"Baby Janell, I heard that you are going to the United States, so came to see you off." Victor picked up Janell and pinched her pinkish face.

"Uncle, I will just be there for a few days and will come back real soon."

Over the past years, Janrll would go to the United States twice a year for about a month or so. This time, she also thought that she would return after a while.

Her father brought her there in the past. She couldn't quite get used to not having her daddy this time around.

Fortunately, this time her mommy was with her. "Well, then Baby Jane, you must have a good time. When you come back, I will prepare a welcome party for you."

Victor knew very well but he decided not to reveal the truth and leave a pleasant memory to the kids.

"Uncle, let's pinky swear!" If she made a pinky promise with her uncle, then he would not lie to her.

"Okay, let's pinky swear." Victor was always patient whenever he was with l Janell.

"Un... Mr. James, thank you for coming to see us off," Jane said. She wanted to call him uncle, but realized she had nothing to do with Edwin anymore, so she decided to change the way she used to address him.

Victor replied, "We are family. You don't need to be so polite. Although you and Edwin had divorced, and you are no longer a member of the Carter family however, Janell is still the bloodline of the Carter family. No one can ever change that."

"Victor, what are you talking about here? My sister-in-law is always going to be a member of the Carter Family. This is a fact that no one can change."

Angela learned that Jane had come to the airport. She rushed to the airport immediately.

Thankfully, she arrived before they left. However, as soon as she arrived, she heard Victor talking nonsense.

She had the urge to kick his ass. Her cold brother did something impulsive. Neil on the other hand, did not try to ease the situation, but instead he was making it worse! What kind of man was he?

"...."

He had put aside all his military tasks and came to help today, but he didn't expect to be trampled all over by the Carter siblings, without even showing him any appreciation.

Angela rushed over and hugged Jane. She was so anxious she almost cried. "Oh my Sister-in-Law, I know my brother is an absolute dumbass. Don't be angry with him. Let's go home with Janell, okay?"

"Angela, I'm sorry!"

Jane's apology was not for the fact that she couldn't return home with Angela.

She was apologizing on behalf of her father, George Michael.

Although the damage done could not be erased by an apology, that was the only thing Jane could do.

She wanted to save some dignity for her late father, so she didn't say some of the things outrightly.

Angela said in a hurry, "Sister-in-Law, you don't need to say sorry to me. Even if you're not thinking for yourself, you should think for Janell. She is only four years old. Do you really want her to grow up without a father?"

"Sister-in-Law, you know right, my brother has always been dumb with things like these. He never knew how to say nice things since he was young. If you just leave like this, I'm sure he will be heartbroken."

"Sister-in-Law, there were things you didn't see. After you went missing, do you know how my brother survived all those years? If it weren't for baby Janell keeping him company, he wouldn't have lasted to this day."

"You guys have gone through so many challenges together all these years. Why would you want a divorce now?"

"Sister-in-Law, please! I beg you! Can you and Janell go back with me? If you go back, brother will be very, very happy."

Jane shook her head and responded, "Angela, don't say it anymore. It's no longer possible for us."

Aside from Edwin's attitude towards the divorce, it was completely impossible for her to return. It was precisely because she knew that Edwin had sacrificed too much for her.

He blocked bullets for her and escaped with her from the deserted island. Every detail about these things, she had considered it very carefully.

It's all because she knew very well that Edwin had sacrificed too much for her, so much that she could no longer bear it.

She didn't want him to protect her all the time. She wanted to be able to do things for him too. If she were to stay with him, she would bring him endless disasters.

For the sake of his own good, she would rather leave him. Even if she was heartbroken, as long as he was fine, all she wanted was for him to be well and have a good life.

Her parents died violently and her brother had been captured. Edwin and Janell were both hurt in some ways.

Every single one of them was someone close to her. Everything that happened had always had something to do with her. So who would really believe that she had nothing to do with their deaths or injuries?

She didn't know what kind of bad luck she would bring to Edwin if she were to stay here, so the best choice for her was to just leave.

That would be the most ideal option for everyone. Therefore, even though what she said would hurt Kevin, she would still do it, solely for his own good.

She didn't ask for much in life. She only hoped that Edwin and her children were all fine. That was more than enough for her..

CHAPTER 627 DIVORCE AGREEMENT

After Jane met him in the bedroom earlier, Edwin didn't leave the study anymore.

He 'considerately left the room to Jane tonight, and didn't stop her from staying close to Janell.

That night, she still slept in the master bedroom with Janell.

Janell slept in the afternoon, so she wasn't able to sleep that early in the night. She pulled Jane Ronan along and asked her a few questions. Almost all the questions had been asked.

Although Janell had a lot of questions, Jane Ronan didn't show the slightest impatience. She would always answer any of Janell's questions with all her heart.

Tonight was the last time they would lie together like this. From now on, she could no longer hug Janell's soft body as she slept, so she treasured every second she spent with Janell.

"Mommy, when can I grow up?" This question had always been Janell's most concerned question. Even though her eyelids were already fighting, she hadn't forgotten to ask her mother.

Jane Ronan embraced her and said gently, "As long as you eat every meal properly and not be picky, you will grow up very quickly.."

I want to grow up quickly."  When she grew up she could find Brother Lionel and even take care of her Mommy. She didn't want her Mommy to get sad again.

"Yes, mom's baby will definitely grow up quickly." Jane Ronan looked at Janell who had already fallen asleep, pinched her pink cheeks, and took a picture from the phone on the bedside table.

These few days, she had taken a lot of photos and videos of Janell.  so she could look at them whenever she missed her in the future.

Flipping through the whole photo album, the last one was a photo of Edwin Carter. She secretly took it when he fell asleep the night before yesterday.

Edwin Carter rarely took photos, so Jane Ronan didn't even have a decent photo of him on her phone. This was the only one.

But at least she had one.

Jane Ronan spent the night with her eyes open. It was a long night, but to her, it was a quick one.

She wished that time could go by more slowly so that her relationship with Edwin Carter could be maintained for a little longer.

However, things seemed to be always going against one's will. The more she wanted time to slow down, the faster it flew by.

Although she didn't sleep throughout the night, Jane was rather energetic the next day.

She got up early to wash and change into beautiful clothes and makeup … She was going to the Civil Affairs Bureau to get a divorce from Edwin Carter.

When she got up, Janell was still asleep. She told the nanny to look after her, and sent Edwin a message as she left.

"Mr. Carter,  I'm going to the Civil Affairs Bureau first, please come as soon as you can! Thank you very much."

The cold and polite text message was sent out like a stone sinking into the ocean. Edwin Carter didn't reply to her message and didn't know if he had seen it or not. He also didn't know when he would come.

Jane Ronan put away her phone and walked outside the villa area. She called a taxi and rushed to the Civil Affairs Bureau.

Since she had already decided to break up with Edwin Carter, she didn't spend his things anymore and had no reason to ask his driver to drive her again.

She told him that she wouldn't want any of his money yesterday, but what had she done to deserve any of it anyway?

She also didn't want to take Janell away. It's not that she didn't want her, but she felt like Edwin and his daughter couldn't live without each other. She came into her life 'later' than he did, so she had no right to take Janell away.

Seated in the back of the taxi, Jane Ronan gently caressed her still-flat belly. The child in her belly was the only one she wanted to take away.

It was also the only one Edwin Carter left to her!

   "..."

   Civil Affairs Bureau.

When Jane arrived, they had just started operations. She looked around and found a place to sit.

She was thinking that she would have to wait for some time since Edwin was always so busy.

   But again, she was wrong.

Not long after she arrived, Edwin Carter also came.

Today, Edwin Carter was still wearing a white shirt with black pants. No matter where he went, he would immediately attract everyone's attention.

When Edwin arrived, Jane didn't spot him immediately, but she looked over because of the gasps of the people around her.

She looked up and saw Edwin Carter walking in front of the two men.

Jane knew one of the men was Edwin's special assistant Hal Barnes,  but the other man was unfamiliar. Jane had never seen him before.

Edwin Carter  saw her, but he only looked at her briefly. He walked straight into a private consultation room.

Jane Ronan  thought bitterly, "He must think that sparing me another glance would cause damage to his eyes, and talking to me would only be a chore too."

Hal Barnes and another man walked towards Jane Ronan. Hal Barnes smiled politely and said, "Miss Ronan, I am   Chairman Carter's  special assistant,  Hal Barnes. This is Attorney Hudson. He is in charge of drafting the divorce agreement between Boss Carter and you."

Not only did Edwin Carter change his way of addressing her, even  his assistant had changed his way of addressing her. In one night, she had returned to Miss Ronan from Mrs. Carter's identity.

Although she was sad, Jane Ronan still smiled politely, "Nice to meet you all!"

Attorney Hudson took out a document and handed it over to Jane Ronan. With a businesslike attitude, he said, "Miss Ronan, first take a look at this divorce agreement. If there are no problems, then please sign the agreement. "

Jane Ronan took the divorce agreement and looked through it. There were only a few simple lines on the agreement. The first few were the ones she mentioned yesterday, and the last one was something she didn't mention, added by Edwin Carter.

It probably meant that Edwin Carter wanted her to take away everything that belonged to her — including Janell!

Edwin Carter didn't even want Janell anymore?

   Or …

Jane Ronan slightly raised her eyes and looked towards Edwin Carter's direction. However, she only saw a thick door and didn't see Edwin Carter.

Attorney Hudson asked, "Miss Ronan, do you have any objections to this agreement?"

Jane Ronan unwittingly shook her head.

Attorney Hudson said, "If you have no objections,  please follow me p to the private room and sign with Chairman Carter, then you can finish up the rest of the divorce procedures. "

"Attorney Hudson, does he really not want Janell?" This was something that Jane Ronan had never dreamt of. Edwin Carter loved Janell so dearly, so how could he not want Janell?

"Miss Ronan, everything on the agreement were Chairman Carter's requests. I believe I've stated everything quite clearly." Attorney Hudson was a cold man. He spoke in a brief yet concise manner, not willing to explain any further.

"Assistant Barnes, Edwin really doesn't want Janell to go with him?" Jane could not believe it. She held on to her last sliver of hope as she looked at Hal Barnes..

CHAPTER 628 DO NOT TAKE IT LIGHTLY?

"Miss Ronan, don't worry. You'll be the one to take care of Janell, but will provide alimony and financial support every month." This was the reply from the assistant, Hal Barnes, to Jane Ronan.

"What?" Alimony? Who wants his money?" Jane Ronan snapped, drawing the attention of everyone around her.

She was a strong and independent woman. She could easily earn a living for herself and her child. What she wanted to know was, what was Edwin thinking?

Did he think that Janell was an "object?

An object that he could just kick around?

The reason why she wanted him to take care of Janell was because she believed that Janell had a deeper relationship with him. How could he ask her to take away this precious child that they brought to the world so callously?

And this was Janell they were talking about!

"Miss Ronan, we are just passing on Chairman Carter's words. If you have any further questions, please ask him personally." Barnes said politely.

At the thought of confronting Edwin personally, Jane hesitated.

What could she ask Edwin Carter?

Just like how she asked for a divorce, he didn't even ask her why. She would probably only receive a cold gaze if she asked.

She was thinking of leaving Janell to him, because he was the most important person to the child. But it appeared that he didn't even want her. If that was the case, then she would raise Janell on her own!

Jane Ronan took a deep breath and said, "Attorney Hudson,  didn't you ask for me to sign the agreement with Chairman Carter in the private room? Why aren't you leading the way yet?"

She was the one who brought up the divorce. Why should she be unsatisfied if Edwin agreed without objections?

"Miss Ronan, this way please!" Attorney Hudson made a "please" gesture and walked in front of Jane Ronan to lead the way.

Just as Jane Ronan was about to follow him, she suddenly heard Hal Barnes whisper in her ear, "Mrs. Carter,  you're familiar with Mr. Carter's temper. If you had a fight, you just need to say a few nice words to him, and it will be alright."

As an assistant, he should not be meddling in his boss's personal issues, but if he did not help the situation, his life would be tougher from now on!

Their Chairman Carter was terrifying today. He wasn't aggressive nor he was loud, but he seemed to have became the cold person he used to be a few years ago.

This Chairman Carter is the real scary one.

Just when they couldn't understand why the Chairman was acting this way, he had asked them to draft a divorce agreement.

Then everyone knew what the problem was.

The problem must have been their CEO's wife.

Everyone who worked with Edwin knew that he viewed his wife as someone who was larger than life. Now that he was talking about a divorce, something big must have happened.

"Thank you for your kind intentions!" Jane Ronan thanked him and followed closely behind Attorney Hudson.

In the VIP lounge, there was not only a servants, but also some snacks. The divorce treatment for rich people was very different from that of ordinary people.

Edwin Carter was sitting on the sofa with his legs crossed gracefully and a cigarette in his hand. When he saw Jane Ronan come in, his expression didn't change at all, but he subconsciously put the cigarette out.

Attorney Hudson said, "Chairman Carter, Miss Ronan has seen this contract, and she has no objections. Now you just have to sign the agreement, and you can go proceed with the divorce."

"No. I have an objection. I do not need any alimony or support from you." Jane looked at Edwin, but he ignored her.

Attorney Hudson placed the agreement in front of Edwin and gave him a pen. Edwin took the pen and signed his name forcefully.

He had written the word "Edwin Carter" almost every day, but never had he used so much strength like today. It was so heavy that the paper had been cut open.

Every stroke he drew was like a sharp knife crossing his heart. If he didn't exert his strength, he would probably yell out in pain instead.

Finally, the word "Edwin Carter" appeared in the letter of agreement.

Seeing his name on the agreement, Jane's heart was trembling, but she pursed her lips and forced a smile.

She confirmed once again that Edwin Carter was really impatient to get a divorce and signed his name without hesitation.

She used to find comfort in seeing his name on paper, but at this moment, it was painful to look at.

But that's good too. Isn't this what she hoped for?

Wasn't that what she was hoping to see?

Jane took the black pen from Attorney Hudson and signed her name clearly, 'Jane Ronan.

She had been using this signature since she was four years old. It was very familiar to her.

However, this time was probably the only time she was extremely unwilling to sign it and yet, she knew she had to.

Once she signed her name, then the words 'Jane Ronan' and 'Edwin Carter' would never be put together again

Finally, she managed to sign her name primly and neatly, just beneath Edwin's fierce and wild looking signature.

It was also at this moment that it was announced that Edwin Carter and Jane Ronan were no longer husband and wife today and that there would be no other relations between them.

"Mr. Carter, Miss Ronan,  are you both willing to get this divorce?" The person-in-charge of their divorce asked as part of the procedure.

Jane Ronan also remembered that when she mustered up the courage to marry Edwin Carter, the staff member who helped them get their marriage certificate also asked a similar question.

"Mr. Carter, Miss Ronan, are you two willing to marry each other?"

That day, just when Jane Ronan was hesitating, Edwin Carter held her hand for the first time. It was such a small action from him that made her nod firmly: "Yes, it was voluntary."

That day, the staff stamped the marriage certificate with photographs of the two of them and declared their marriage legally valid.

Today, staff members also stamped their divorce certificates with photographs of the two of them, announcing the end of their relationship.

From now on, it would be completely legal for both of them to get married to someone else. They could no longer interfere each other's lives.

The moment the stamp fell, Edwin Carter got up and left. He didn't even politely say goodbye to Jane Ronan. All the finishing work was done for him by his assistant and his lawyer.

Jane Ronan held the divorce certificate tightly in her palm.

In the future, she no longer had anything to do with Edwin Carter, but at least she still had a divorce certificate with his name, which proved that she had a relationship with him before.

As she walked out of the registration hall with her divorce certificate in hand, Jane Ronan suddenly remembered something. Today was the official national holiday, so under normal circumstances, these government departments were on vacation. How could they work normally today?

When she looked back, there was a sign at the door saying "Rest". They were on vacation, which meant that Edwin Carter was the one who had used his connections to successfully go through with the divorce procedures.

It turned out that Edwin Carter was even more anxious than she was. One more day and he wouldn't be able to wait any longer.

CHAPTER 629 DON'T SHOW UP IN FRONT OF ME AGAIN

She should just forget it and stop thinking about those useless things. Since Edwin had already filed for the divorce as she wished.

Now as she tried to recall, Edwin had always agreed to any requests she made over the years.

Hence, this divorce was no exception as well. She stood on the side of the road and looked at the cloudless sky. The world is big, but suddenly, she did not know where she could go.

Go home? But where was home for her?

She had lost her home!

Since their marriage, home was where Edwin was. Now that Jane had separated from Edwin, where would her home be?

Where could she settle down in the future?

"Baby, where can I take you to?" Jane asked in her heart while touching her belly.

It was a question for the baby, and also for herself. Janell's custody had been awarded to her. So she had to pick Janell up from the kindergarten.

She needed to find Janell and herself a home.

"Mommy!" Jane was just thinking about Janell when she heard her baby voice.

For a second, Jane thought she was hallucinating.

"Mommy!" Janell called out again with her sweet voice after not getting any response from Jane.

When she saw Janell standing in front of her, she hoped once again.

Yes, without Edwin, she still had two children, Janell and the baby in her belly... and Andrew, who was standing behind Janell.

Behind Andrew, there was Robert Michael... and the fluffy ball in Robert's arms, Mia.

"Woof Woof Woof." Mia was making noises to get attention.

She had her brother, her children, and Mia... Without Edwin, Jane still had a lot.

But why did she still feel empty when she had so much? No one seemed to be able to fill up the emptiness from the loss of Edwin.

"Mommy, can have hugs." Jane ran over.

At such a young age, she did not know that her parents had separated.

Perhaps, she did know that her parents had had a divorce, but she did not truly understand the meaning of divorce.

From her perspective, her daddy was still her daddy, and mommy was still her mommy. It's that simple!

Jane hugged Janell, kissed her on the face, and said with a gentle smile, "Janell, thank goodness I will have you."

Thankfully, Edwin did not request for Janell's custody.

When she felt absolutely helpless, she could at least have Janell by her side, giving her strength and motivation to move forward.

"Let's go home," Robert spoke. He was standing a few steps away from her and was looking at Jane quietly.

He seemed to have a lot of things to say to Jane, but in the end, he only said those words.

"Brother, thank you!" Jane said with a smile.

She should thank Robert. Since she was reunited with her brother, he would always be by her side whenever she needed him.

"I'm sorry!" Robert said out of a sudden.

Jane was stunned and asked, "Why are you apologizing to me all of a sudden?"

Robert did not explain further. He led Jane and the children to his BMW.

He really owed Jane an apology after all that had happened.

If he hadn't told Jane about their father's death before proper investigation, she wouldn't have misunderstood Edwin and caused their divorce.

Two days ago, Edwin met up with him and showed him all the evidences they had found.

The evidences has proved to him that the man who kidnapped his father was just a man who looked like Luis George's subordinate.

The man had been murdered, his body had been discovered too. All these proved Luis George's man's   innocence.

What was even more frightening, however, was the human skin mask that looked exactly like Edwin's face...

Before his father died, he said that Edwin was a bad guy and asked him to save Jane and her children from him.

His father had to have seen that man and mistakenly thought that he was Edwin.

As a psychology major who had been a psychologist for so many years, Robert thought he could see through others easily, but when he himself encountered things like these, he was being played like a fool.

Fortunately, although he was a fool, Edwin was clearer minded. Edwin and his men tracked the clues and discovered the murderer.

It also made him realize in time that Edwin was being wrongly accused, and unveiled who the real murderer was behind his father's death.

However, the relationship between Jane and Edwin could no longer be saved.

Edwin asked his men to send Janell, Andrew, and Mia to him, and informed him about their divorce.

When he heard it, Robert took almost half an hour to digest the shocking news.

How could Edwin divorce Jane so easily?

He called Edwin. But Edwin only asked him to take care of the mother and daughter pair, and not to worry about other things.

He didn't want to be so nosy about their private affairs, but Jane was his own sister after all. He couldn't just leave her alone like that.

Yet, no matter how hard he tried, he still couldn't get any further information.

Jane carried Janell in her arms and as she got into Robert's car, Hal Barnes rushed over and handed her a bag, "Miss Jane, here's the four tickets and your passports. Visas have all been sorted as well. The flight will be departing in another three hours. You guys should probably hurry to the airport now."

"Flight tickets, passports, and visas? The flight will depart in three hours?" Jane was confused. She had not figured out where to go.

"It's like this." Barned coughed a bit and imitated his chairman's cold tone. "I don't want to see her in Jiangbei anymore. Send them abroad. The farther the better."

He didn't want to see her in Jiangbei anymore?

Edwin was really ruthless and unrelenting in his actions. But in the past, she was lucky enough to not witness this side of him.

Karen took the tickets, endured the heart-wrenching pain, and responded with a smile, "Assistant Barnes, please send on my thanks to Chairman Carter."

They had gone their separate ways anyway. From now on, they would be complete strangers.

They would be so far apart, they would never meet again in this life.

It wasn't that bad idea actually "Miss Ronan, thank you for your cooperation. Your luggages have been sent to the airport. If you need anything in the future, you can call me at any time." Hal Barnes said respectfully.

Although Jane and Edwin had divorced, and Edwin had also said those hurtful words to ask her to get out of his sight.

However, everyone knew that it was impossible for Edwin Carter to turn a blind eye on them.

It was not as if Edwin had never kicked out someone from his life. If he were to truly do so, he surely wouldn't have instructed him to prepare their visas and luggages before sending them away..

CHAPTER 624. DIVORCE

It was a beautiful time of the year. The weather was good, and the sun glowed warmly in the sky.

The following day was a State holiday. So before leaving home that morning, Edwin Carter had told Jane Ronan that he would not be working in the afternoon. He would be back home to have lunch.

When Edwin Carter left, Jane Ronan got busy preparing lunch.

She prepared two dishes that Edwin Carter liked to eat and two dishes that Janell liked to eat. Of course, she didn't forget to ask their new member, Andrew, what he liked to eat.

After preparing the dishes on the table, it was almost lunch time.

Looking at the time, Jane Ronan returned to her room and changed into an apricot-colored long skirt. The skirt was flowy and airy, so she tied a thin belt around her waist to draw the outline of her slender waist.

Although she was pregnant, she was still in her first trimester and her abdomen was not visible at all, so no one would be able to tell that she was pregnant.

Not only did she dress beautifully, Jane Ronan also planned to put on a light makeup for Edwin Carter to enjoy the best version of herself.

Jane Ronan sat down at her vanity table, looked down for a pencil in the drawer, and when she looked up, she saw another person in the mirror.

She looked at Edwin Carter in the mirror and smiled awkwardly: "Why did you come back so early?"

"What are you going to do?" Edwin Carter looked at Jane Ronan in the mirror and asked with a gentle gaze.

"I want to make myself look better by putting on some makeup." Jane Ronan told the truth because she wanted to leave her most beautiful self in Edwin Carter's heart.

Edwin Carter lowered his head and kissed her: "It would be better if you don't put on makeup."

Jane Ronan's skin was very good. Plus, she was pregnant now, her skin looked as smooth as an egg that had just been peeled off. Edwin Carter said that it would be better if she didn't put on makeup, it definitely came from the bottom of his heart.

"Do I really look good?" No matter what others thought of her looks, she didn't care. She just wanted Edwin Carter's confirmation.

"Do you think our Janell looks good?"

   "Of course."

"You're the one who gave birth to Janell, so do you think you're beautiful?"

Actually, Janell's appearance combined Edwin Carter's and Jane Ronan's strengths. No matter how you looked at it, she was still beautiful.

Jane Ronan did not like to put on makeup anyway. Now that Edwin Carter was back, she did not want to put on any makeup in front of him.

She said, "Lunch is ready. Let's go have lunch."

Edwin Carter nodded and walked downstairs with Jane Ronan by his hand.

Jane Ronan let Linda and the other servants to take a time off. So she laid out the dishes and set the table by herself.

While Edwin Carter was eating, she looked at him as if she wanted to remember his appearance in her heart. No matter how much time passed, she couldn't forget about him.

After lunch, Jane Ronan asked Andrew to take Janell to play. She asked Edwin Carter to stay behind and said, "Edwin Carter, I have something to tell you."

"It just so happens that I have something to say to you." Edwin Carter seemed to be in a good mood today. He had a faint smile on his face ever since he came home.

"I'll go first." Jane Ronan took a deep breath and slowly said word by word, "Edwin Carter, I'm tired. I'm really tired."

Edwin Carter's expression froze and he raised his eyebrows: "You …What do you mean?"

Jane Ronan said, "Edwin Carter, we got married on a blind date. During the blind date, you told me that you don't believe in love. I'm not wrong, right?"

Edwin Carter looked at Jane Ronan silently.

Jane Ronan added, "You don't believe in love, and I don't believe in love, so we got married and lived together in what others think is a normal life."

Edwin Carter narrowed his eyes and looked at Jane Ronan. He did not interrupt her, but waited for her to finish and see what she wanted to say.

Jane Ronan continued, "So our marriage was all for show. There is no love in this marriage."

The veins on Edwin Carter's forehead twitched, but he asked plainly: "What do you really want to say?"

"I want to say, I'm really tired. This is not the marriage I want. I don't want to pretend that I'm living a happy life."

"Edwin Carter, I have had enough. I have had enough of marriage without love. I want to pursue the love that I want, the happiness that I want, the marriage that I want. You can't give me any of this, so let's — divorce. "

The word "divorce" was short and simple, but it used up all the strength and courage in Jane Ronan to say it.

From the time she agreed to marry Edwin Carter to the later years, she had never thought that there would be a day where the word "divorce" would come out of her mouth.

"Divorce?" Edwin Carter repeated the word softly. His tone sounded light, as if he wasn't affected by her words, but his tense body betrayed him.

"Yes." Jane Ronan nodded. It seemed simple, but he didn't know how much effort she had expended on this.

"Have you decided?" Edwin Carter's tone remained calm, as if he was asking Jane Ronan if the weather was good today.

   "Yes." Jane Ronan nodded.

   "Alright." he said.

   Alright?

   Edwin Carter agreed.

Jane Ronan didn't expect Edwin Carter to agree so readily. From his tone, it seemed that he had long been hoping for her to come up with this idea.

Jane Ronan quietly clenched her fists. After a fierce mental exercise, she said, "I won't take your property."

Her gaze landed on Janell who was playing happily with Mia in the distance, "Janell belongs to you too, I won't fight over her. I only want the child in my womb. "

Edwin Carter looked at her with a slight smile on his face. His sexy lips parted slightly, but only said a simple and clear word: "Ok."

"Since both of us have agreed, we'll go to the Civil Affairs Bureau tomorrow morning to get the witness." Every word she said was like tearing off a piece of flesh from her own body, but no matter how painful it was, she had to say it. There is no simple way.

She tried to find a other way for herself, but she couldn't find it, so she had to follow the route that had been designed for her.

"Alright." Edwin Carter looked at her with his thin lips slightly raised. His smile was gentle and refined. It was the most attractive smile Jane Ronan had ever seen on Edwin Carter's face.

   "Then I …"

"Miss Ronan, I'll see you tomorrow then."

   Miss Ronan!

He just called her Miss Ronan!

She had just filed for divorce, and he had already called her Miss Ronan, even though the divorce was still pending.

How impatient had he been to see her go?

She clearly told him about the divorce, but Jane Ronan's heart still hurt when she saw Edwin Carter agree so readily without even asking her why.

Because she clearly knew that once she let go of Edwin Carter's hand, he would no longer belong to her again.

He would belong to another woman, and that woman would no longer be called Jane Ronan.

CHAPTER 625 WHO ARE YOU TO ME?

Beside losing Edwin, Janell wouldn't  belong to her anymore as well.

After she leaves, Janell will eventually forget about her as her mother, and the little girl would call another woman — Mom.

Edwin Carter stood up, "Miss Ronan, do you still have anything else to say?"

"I …" Jane Ronan had a lot of things she wanted to say, but she didn't know what to say.

Edwin Carter smiled and said, "Miss Ronan, I still have things to do, excuse me."

He spoke politely and courteously, just like how Jane Ronan had seen him treat so many strangers before.

With that, he turned around and walked away without even looking at her, as if he really wasn't the Edwin Carter who had once treated her with extreme gentleness.

Jane Ronan couldn't help reaching out her hand to grab him, but she was forced to withdraw her hand just as it was about to reach out.

She opened her mouth. "Ed … Edwin …"

Edwin Carter stopped walking, but he did not turn around to look at her. He asked coldly: "Is there anything else?"

His back was as proud and aloof as a cold ice sculpture. He didn't even look back at her. Jane Ronan only felt that her burning heart was bleeding bright in pain.

She took a deep breath and tried to behave, "Mr. Carter, I hope you can find the woman you love soon."

It wad the same "Mr. Carter" that she called out before but it was no longer as intimate as before. Like other strangers, it was just a normal name.

Edwin Carter clenched his hands tightly and his eyes turned serious. However, when he turned around and looked at her, there was only a hint of a cold smile on his angry face.

He smiled and asked, "Miss Ronan, who are you to me?"

"I …" Jane Ronan was momentarily at a loss for words.

Right, who was she to him?

Currently, she was still his wife, but very quickly, she no longer had anything to do with him.

As long as the formalities were done tomorrow, she and he would be two strangers who had nothing to do with each other.

If they were to meet again, they might greet each other. Or they might just act like they didn't see each other.

"Miss Ronan, you don't have to worry about me. Go for the marriage you want, go for the happiness you want." After throwing that sentence, Edwin Carter turned around and left.

He was tall and straight, and his steps were graceful and elegant, as if he were a walking piece of art.

However, what Jane Ronan couldn't see was that the moment he turned around, the smile on his face vanished. He looked so down and distressed that it was frightening.

Jane Ronan watched helplessly as he go upstairs and disappeared before her eyes. The tears that she had suppressed for a long time gushed out like a flood from a broken dam, unstoppable.

   Edwin Carter!

Her Edwin Carter would never belong to her again. She would never be able to lie on his chest and listen to his heartbeat.

She would never have a chance to hear him tell her in his low, magnetic, sexy voice, "Jane Ronan, don't be afraid, I'm here!"

She would never have another chance …

"Mom, why are you crying? Are you very sad? " Unknowingly, Janell had arrived beside Jane Ronan. She looked up at her mother with blinking, watery eyes.

"Mom didn't cry. Mom only had sand in her eyes." Jane Ronan wiped her tears as she knelt down and gently hugged Janell.

"Mother, I don't want you to feel sad." Janell raised her small hand to wipe her mother's tears. Her eyes were also red.

Because her mother was sad, it made her very sad too, and would want to cry with her mother.

"Darling, Mom really isn't sad, it's just …" However, she wouldn't be able to look at her darling every day from now on.

She really wanted to leave with Janell, but she knew that Edwin Carter was the one who raised Janell. How could she be so cruel as to take Janell away?

"Mom!" Janell held Jane Ronan's hand and pouted. "Mom don't cry, I'll bring you to Dad."

In Janell's heart, father is an omnipotent superhero, father can certainly help mother.

"Janell, dad has work to do. Let's not disturb him." Jane Ronan picked Janell up and carried her upstairs to Janell's pink room.

She placed Janell on the dressing table and sat her down. "Janell. Can mother give you a beautiful little braid?"

"Yes." Janell nodded. She smiled sweetly as she knew that her mother wanted to tie her beautiful hair.

"Janell you are Mommy's darling, whether Mommy is by your side or not, Mommy loves you. In the future, you have to listen to dad. When you grow up, you have to be filial to dad, okay? " Jane Ronan reminded Janell as she combed her hair.

"Why, wouldn't mommy be with me?" Janell didn't understand. Could it be that her mother was going to fly away again? Would she have to wait until she grew up before she could see her mother?

Previously, people always said that she was a child without a mother. When her mother finally returned to her side, she didn't want her mother to fly away again.

"Because …" Jane Ronan choked with sobs. It was a long time before she could find her voice again. "Because Mom has something important to do."

Janell asked with some distress, "Is the important matter even more important than me?"

   Jane Ronan: "…"

Nothing was more important than her baby, but she didn't know how to tell her baby.

Jane Ronan took in a breath of cold air and said, "Janell, do you think the braids that mother gave you look good?"

   "Very pretty."

"Then in the future, of course, if you want to tie such a beautiful braid, let your nanny help you." These few days, Jane Ronan had been explaining a lot of things to Janell's nanny.

From Janell's daily life, whenever she needed something, even if the other person did it frequently, Jane Ronan would repeat the instructions again and again, afraid that Janell would get bullied when she wasn't around.

" I want my mommy to do my braids. My mommy's braid is the most beautiful." In Janell's heart, whatever her mother did for her was the best.

The clothes her mother made for her looked the best on her body, and the fragrance her mother gave her was also the most fragrant. Of course, the braids her mother tied for her were also the most beautiful.

"Janell …" Jane Ronan was so heartbroken that she hugged Janell into her arms. She also wanted to give Janell a braid all of her life.

She wanted to stay by Janell's side and watch her slowly grow from a little girl to a beautiful woman.

She wanted to personally prepare the dowry for Janell and personally hand her over to the man who could take care of Janell for the rest of her life.

She was thinking too much, but …

Jane Ronan shook her head. She couldn't keep thinking about it anymore. If she kept thinking about it, she would break down.

CHAPTER 626 I WILL LEAVE YOUR ROOM TONIGHT

"Mom?" Janell raised her head from Jane Ronan's embrace. " Let's  find daddy."

She always felt that her mother was very strange today, but she wasn't sure why. She knew that the person who could help them was still her father.

"Daddy's busy!" Jane Ronan didn't have the courage to face Edwin Carter, nor did she know how to face Edwin Carter. She was afraid of Edwin Carter's cold face.

The Edwin Carter of today was colder than any time she had ever seen before. It was as if he had built a wall around him and no one could get close to him.

Jane Ronan continued, "Can you play with Brother Andrew and Mia?"

Janell shook her head. "No, I want to stay with mommy."

She had to keep an eye on her mother. She had to hold her tightly, and this time, she couldn't let her mother fly away again.

"Alright, then let's go take a nap." Jane Ronan hugged Janell and kissed her cute little face.

No matter how sensible Janell was, she was still a child after all. Lying beside her mother, she soon fell asleep.

Janell fell asleep, but Jane Ronan didn't feel sleepy at all. She got up again and cleaned up Janell's room herself, hung up Janell's clothes in her closet, and put up some notes to tell the nanny how to dress Janell.

And every pair of Janell's shoes, which Jane Ronan had cleaned and placed neatly in the shoe closet.

After doing all this, Jane Ronan talked to Linda and Janell's nanny to explain the things that Janell needed to pay attention to and her routine.

After giving out her orders, she handed over a small notebook to Linda and reminded her, "Linda, these are Edwin Carter's usual taboos. You must be careful of his allergic food. You definitely mustn't let him touch it."

Because she didn't know that Edwin Carter was allergic to onions before, she did it once, and Edwin Carter didn't say anything about it.

Even though the servants in the house knew all about it, Jane Ronan was still worried about who would be careless.

"Young madam, is there anything wrong?" Thinking about Jane Ronan's behavior these past few days, Linda felt that it was a little strange. However, it wasn't good for them to ask about their master.

"Edwin Carter doesn't like to talk. So please just bear with him in the future." She knew that Edwin had only been chatty in front of her, but he was always so aloof in front of others that nobody dared to get close to him.

"Young Madam, don't scare us." Jane Ronan's words made Linda feel that she was trying to explain the future to them.

"Mm, then you guys go on ahead. Please prepare dinner. Just prepare Edwin Carter's, Andrew's and Janell's. I'm not hungry. " Jane Ronan had a decent and gentle smile on her face, without a single flaw.

After giving out the instructions, she went back upstairs. After just taking a few steps, she felt that her steps were a bit lacking. One of her stomps landed on empty air, causing her to stagger and almost fall to the ground.

She immediately regained her composure and shook her head to clear her mind. At such a critical time like this, she could not afford to get into an accident.

She had to go to the Civil Affairs Bureau tomorrow to handle the formalities. Before that, she definitely couldn't allow anything to happen to her. She had to hold on for one more day until she completely disappeared from Edwin Carter's side.

She would never see him again, and he would probably never want to see her again. After all, she had betrayed their marriage.

Today she had asked him to divorce her, and he had told her that there was no such thing as love in the world.

In fact, he had told her before not to break up no matter what happened.

She had always remembered these words in her heart, but she had actually mentioned them so easily.

Jane Ronan took a deep breath and helped herself up the stairs step by step. Every step she took, she would pause because she knew this could be one of the last times she could step on these stairs.

This place was filled with the scent of the two people she cared the most. She greedily wanted to take in all of it.

Upstairs, Jane Ronan walked past Edwin Carter's study room and couldn't help but slow down and took a look at the room.

The study room's door was tightly shut. No one knew what Edwin Carter was busy with.

Was he busy getting a divorce settlement prepared, or was he busy at work?

Jane Ronan did not dare to think too much. Afraid that she would lose control of herself, and open the door.

She pursed her lips and moved on to their room, where nothing had changed.

In a trance, Jane Ronan seemed to be able to see Edwin Carter sitting on the sofa that he usually sat on, reading a newspaper.

When he heard her, he looked up and pushed his glasses up on the bridge of his nose. He looked at her and smiled.

Jane Ronan couldn't help but walk towards him. However, just as she took a step forward, Edwin Carter had already disappeared.

Jane Ronan looked closely and saw that the sofa was completely empty. Edwin Carter was nowhere to be seen.

Jane Ronan laughed self-deprecatingly. Tears welled up in her eyes.

She hadn't left him yet, but she looked as if she was about to die. If she had left him, would she still be able to live?

   "Buzz, buzz ~ ~ ~"

Just as she was lost in her thoughts, the phone in her pocket buzzed again.

Jane Ronan picked up her cell phone and answered.

The person on the other side of the phone asked, "Miss Ronan, how is the matter?"

Jane Ronan chuckled and said, "We will be going through the divorce procedures tomorrow. Are you satisfied?"

She cut off the phone, not wanting to hear the sickening sound.

However, Jane Ronan never expected that after hanging up the phone, she turned around and saw Edwin Carter's tall figure not far behind her.

He was judging her through his golden-framed glasses as if she was a stranger.

Jane Ronan was so scared that her hands trembled. Her phone fell to the ground. Fortunately, the floor was covered with a thick carpet, so her phone didn't break.

Jane Ronan didn't know if Edwin Carter had heard her talking on the phone or not, but she stuttered in nervousness. "You, why did you …"

Edwin Carter looked away, took a book in the room and left the room. Without saying a word, he left Jane Ronan's side.

   He thought she was transparent.

Jane Ronan felt a bit sad, but at the same time, she also let out a sigh of relief. Luckily, he didn't hear anything.

   "I'll leave your room tonight."

Edwin Carter said without turning his head back.

Jane Ronan felt so sad that she wanted to laugh.

So he really couldn't wait to be separated from her.

This night, the Orchard Villa was shrouded in haze. The dining room that was usually filled with cheers and laughter was extremely quiet today.

Janell and Andrew Carter were the only ones in the dining room, both Edwin Carter and Jane Ronan were not.

Jane Ronan had been busy all this time, so she went upstairs during dinner time. She intentionally avoided Edwin Carter and was speechless because she didn't want to meet him.

As of Edwin Carter, he was in the study room all day long. No one knew whether he was busy or doing something else.
